Our story

Why we are called Richie Rich

The name has followed me since junior school. Long before there was a company, a van or a logo, “Richie Rich” was what my friends called me, and it stuck through every year that followed. When it came time to put a name on the business, there was never really a choice. It is a small thing, but it says something about us: we are not a corporate brand dreamed up in a boardroom. We are a Cape Town electrical company with a nickname for a name, and we have worked hard for twenty-five years to make sure that name means something on your street.

I qualified here in South Africa, and twenty-five years on the tools have shaped how Richie Rich Electrical does things: to the standard, every time, with the paperwork to prove it.

It has been a great honour and privilege to serve the homes of Cape Town. Families have trusted us with their kitchens, their nurseries, their businesses and their peace of mind. We do not take that lightly, and we never will.

Nobody works on your installation unless they are qualified and well trained. That is not a slogan; it is how we hire, how we train and how we send a team out.

Trustworthy and neat

We are guests in your home or your business. We work cleanly, we protect what is around us, and we leave the place as we found it, except for the fault we came to fix.

Safe, for years and years

Our people have years of working safely inside our clients’ homes. Isolation, testing and certification are done properly every time, not just when someone is watching.

Overseen and managed

A senior technician is on site on every job, and every job is overseen and managed from start to sign-off. When we say it is done, it is done right.

We stand by our service. Workmanship on every job is guaranteed for six months from completion, and if something is not right, you call and we come back.

Our people

We grow our own electricians

Most of our team did not arrive qualified. They arrived willing. Our upliftment programme takes people with the right attitude and trains them, personally and on real jobs alongside senior technicians, until they graduate as qualified professionals in their own right. Some of the best electricians on our vans today came through that door.

That is also how we give back. Across Cape Town, from the Northern Suburbs to the Southern Peninsula, we invest in the communities we work in, because a skilled trade is one of the surest ways to change a family’s future.
